KB was held in immigration detention in the UK for 21 months. Not knowing when he would get out came close to breaking him. Creating music in the workshops held by Hear Me Out brought escape, joy, and connection to KB. Connection with other people in detention, connection with the outside world. It transported him to a different place in his mind. He was able to forget where he was.
Hear Me Out runs music-making workshops in immigration detention centres and asylum hotels to release the words, music and life stories of people held inside.
