Solving homelessness one person at a time
Your Place's short film was made to support the London charity's relaunch in 2022 — and its renewed commitment to solving homelessness one person at a time. The film documents the journeys of Ag, Mary and Nur, whose lived experiences lay bare the societal and personal struggles forcing thousands of people into homelessness across the UK. Holding a mirror to what it really means to be homeless in the UK today, their stories explode the myth that people become homelessness through their own lifestyle choices. The film points to the many cases of homelessness that are hidden from view, and deals with the complex root causes as a connected picture. We see the current housing and cost-of-living crises collide with a shortfall in health and social care, exposing a support system that's failing people at their most vulnerable. As well as shining a light on the problem, the film presents a sustainable solution. A 'one person' approach that supports people as individuals and encourages them to rebuild their lives through a culture of community and acceptance.
