Roald Dahl's Marvellous Children's Charity
Suzannah and Max's story

Film & Campaign Description

Meet Max

Max receives vital specialist care from his Roald Dahl Nurse Lisa.

Max has GRIN2D- related disorder and epilepsy. GRIN2D-related disorders can cause a range of neurodevelopmental conditions, with the symptoms a child experiences and the severity of the disorder varying widely. Max is unable to walk, talk and is dependent on a tube for feeding. He is also registered blind and suffers regular seizures.

Max's foster mum, Suzannah, says: “It’s hard to put into words what Lisa does and what Lisa is, to us. She is the foundation that holds so many things together for us."

Roald Dahl Nurses are a vital lifeline for seriously ill children like Max, however too many children do not receive this specialist care.

We believe every seriously ill child deserves a Roald Dahl Nurse.

Roald Dahl's Marvellous Children's Charity

Roald Dahl's Marvellous Children's Charity provides specialist nurses and support for seriously ill children. There are currently over 120 Road Dahl Nurses caring for more than 33,000 seriously ill children, but there are still too many children with serious illnesses who do not receive this vital specialist care.

Roald Dahl Nurses are trained and dedicated experts in their field. They are a consistent presence in the child’s life from initial diagnosis through to the child’s transition to adult services. They advise, they reassure, and they become an extended part of the family.

The dedication and expertise of Roald Dahl Nurses reduces A&E visits, hospital admissions and consultant appointments. They’re also a vital lifeline to the whole family, coordinating care and providing access to high quality emotional support.

That’s why we believe every seriously ill child deserves a Roald Dahl Nurse.
