QBE Foundation x Action Tutoring

Film & Campaign Description

Can you imagine a world in which no child's life chances are limited by their socio-economic background? Well that's the vision of Action Tutoring, a national education charity dedicated to supporting children and young people facing disadvantage to unlock their infinite potential and open doors to their future. As a collaborative, aspirational and reflective charity, with a relentless focus on building their evidence base and impact data, their passion for what they do shines through in all they do. That's why the QBE Foundation are supporting Action Tutoring through an exciting three-year partnership. Our aims over the next three-years are to support Action Tutoring to:

  • 1. Increasing their geographical reach, with 30% of delivery based in schools outside their eight current urban hubs, with a particular focus on often overlooked rural and seaside locations, ensuring their support really is reaching those who need it most.
  • 2. Grow the number of pupils supported, from 6,000 in 2023 to 10,000 by 2026 and then to 12,000.
  • 3. Help reduce the academic attainment gap in English and maths, with the attainment gap now being the widest its been since 2011.
  • 4. Advocate for longer-term tutoring support for disadvantaged pupils, recognising the impact the pandemic and school closures had on education, particularly for those from low-income backgrounds.

We're thrilled to share our film between the QBE Foundation and Action Tutoring. We want viewers to see that - whilst the picture may seem bleak as first (an estimated 115 days of missed face-to-face learning during the pandemic, widest attainment gap in a decade) - with support (like that of amazing volunteer tutors who can spare one hour/week), there is hope. The future of amazing children and young people need not be determined by their background.
