Derby City White Ribbon Campaign – Monday 20^th November to Saturday 25^th November

A group of 8 male students from across different secondary schools in Derby have come together to create a White Ribbon Day Campaign. White Ribbon Day is an International Day of Awareness where men and boys show their commitment to ending violence against women and girls. White Ribbon UK mark this on 25^th November. This year’s focus is ‘Change the Story’. A video has been produced along with Derby Theatre, by young people and for young people to #ChangeTheStory. The video was funded by Derby City Council, Derby Youth Alliance, Community Action and Derby Theatre and features sportsmen from Derby County Football Club, Derbyshire County Cricket Club and local music artist Scriptz who are in support of the campaign.

Several secondary schools in Derby City are participating in raising awareness week beginning 20^th November 2023 by showing the White Ribbon campaign video and White Ribbon presentation to all year groups in form time or school assemblies, male students and staff wearing white ribbons, fundraising for local women’s charities, and for getting creative and designing giant white ribbons for a city-wide competition.

Community Action Derby

Community Action Derby is a registered charity providing support and guidance for voluntary and community groups.

We can help with all aspects of running a voluntary or community organisation. We:

• provide funding advice and information

• offer a bid-writing service
• offer support and advice in developing good management practice
• provide advice on employment matters and other issues for organisations with staff
• recruit and place volunteers, and support those responsible for managing volunteers
• offer training and development opportunities
• represent the sector on local and national partnership bodies and forums
• support groups wanting to get involved in policy development
• promote your organisation's events
• organise networking and funding events.

We also provide access to a wide range of information including:

• details of training events and funding opportunities
• Funding News - monthly bulletin with all of the latest funding opportunities
• hire of training rooms and equipment.

Volunteer Centre

As the Volunteer Centre for Derby city we also offer a brokerage service for potential volunteers and organisations and support volunteer-involving organisations to develop opportunities.
