Suicide is the biggest killer of men under 50. Too often, the taboo of mental health means people don't reach out for support that could save their lives.
Mind wanted to work with musicians to reach new audiences and remove the stigma around mental health and seeking support.
So, we developed our campaign 'Behind the Song' - talking to artists who've written songs about mental health and discussing the meaning behind the song. This video with musician Ren is the first in the series. In this raw and emotional interview, he shares his thoughts and feelings behind the song 'Suic*de'. He speaks about losing his friend Joe to suicide. And how music was a way for him to process his grief.
Through partnering with musicians we've been able to reach new audiences and show them there's no shame in speaking about your mental health. There's no shame in asking for help. Most importantly, this video has helped Mind reach more men and show them we’re here if and when they need us.
