Special Needs and Parent Support CIO (SNAPS)

SNAPS started in Leeds in March 2004 as a parent led organisation supporting children with additional needs and their families. Based in West Yorkshire, we work with families to improve physical and mental wellbeing by providing sport & leisure services, including hydrotherapy and rebound therapy sessions, (making use of a trampoline) and swimming lessons to dramatically improve their lives and future opportunities.

We also provide fun activities such as music therapy, dance classes, sing and sign classes, sensory activities, football sessions and free play in a safe environment. We aim to deliver these much-needed services for the whole family whilst also providing parents and carers the opportunity to share information, ideas, and experiences.

During the pandemic, many of the families we work with suffered disproportionately having already felt isolated and under supported. Sadly, many were now in crisis and needed more support urgently. We identified a need for more formal support and launched a new Family Support Project in April 2021 to ensure our families had the help they desperately needed.
