TradeAidUK.org has worked for 25 years to improve the lives of people in the small Tanzanian town of Mikindani.
Youngsters are offered six-months placements in The Old Boma Hotel, which was established as training hotel by Trade Aid. Of the hundreds who have gained professional skills, most then find worthwhile employment that would otherwise have been uncertain.
The town’s museum, now in its seventh year, extends Trade Aid’s efforts into the wider Southern Tanzania region. School and college students visit us in their thousands to learn about their eventful history and to take pride in the rich heritage their peoples share.
This is a vital cultural resource and entry will always be free.
New funding is sought to carry forward the plans the museum's Tanzanian staff have for further development.
