Sheffield Mencap and Gateway is an independent charity formed in 1951 by the parents of children with learning disabilities. Our vision is that “all people with a learning disability and their carers in Sheffield are valued, included and respected so they can live fair, full and happy lives”. Our values focus on strengthening communities, developing positive relationships, fostering independence, building confidence and improving wellbeing. These values underpin all our services.
We have over 700 members and pride ourselves on providing lifelong support, from our special needs baby group through to 1-2-1 emotional and practical assistance for elderly carers.
