This powerful film showcases the profound impact Staffordshire Women’s Aid has had over the past five decades, supporting individuals and families across Staffordshire. The film charts its grass-roots origins, through pinnacle moments of the last 50-years, from the Miners Strikes in the 80’s, Euro 96 in the 90’s, the Millenium celebrations at the turn of the century, to finally reflecting the present day.
This film is a tribute to the women who founded our charity in 1976, to the many dedicated women who have carried our mission forward, to the many individuals and community groups who have supported us over the years, and most of all to the bravery and courage of the many victims and survivors who have trusted us with their stories.

Staffordshire Women’s Aid provides specialist, trauma-informed support to women, children and young people affected by domestic abuse and sexual violence. We deliver a comprehensive range of services designed to support individuals at risk, in crisis, and in recovery, including Refuge accommodation, the Survive Sexual Assault and Abuse Service, Women’s Community Services, Counselling, a 24-hour helpline and the delivery of professional training. Our work focuses on increasing safety, meeting both immediate and long-term practical and emotional needs, and empowering survivors to understand their rights, improve their wellbeing, and build confidence, independence and resilience. Through awareness raising and education, we ensure that those impacted by abuse are heard within their communities while working to prevent domestic and sexual violence across Staffordshire.
