The Birch Tree Café is a place where young people who have Down’s Syndrome can work, socialize, and be accepted as part of a vibrant village community.
We offer great quality, casual food and drink in spacious, attractive surroundings. The café exists to help our enthusiastic young staff members develop workplace skills and confidence, thereby improving their employment prospects and independence, so they can realise their own ambitions.
The Birch Tree Café is owned and operated by T-21, a registered Charitable Incorporated Organisation, (CIO, Registered no 1180389). T-21 was born out of the Peterborough Area Down’s Syndrome Group, (PADSG) a parent led charity supporting people with Down’s Syndrome and their families in the Greater Peterborough area.
We have been open since early 2022 and have exceeded our expectations in terms of trading (double what we expected) and the positive impact on our young people.
We are a success story and want to spread the good news about what is possible.
