Home-Start UK
We answer the cries you don't hear: Anxiety

Film & Campaign Description

In the film, we see a mum desperately trying to leave the safety of her home. She wills herself to open the door, but can’t take that step outside. This is a story we sadly hear often. Where anxiety, postnatal depression and struggles with mental health keeps parents inside, isolated and distanced from community support.

43% of parents acknowledged that mental health challenges play a role in their sense of isolation. Home-Starts across the UK have seen the number of families needing support with their mental health rise by 48% in just three years.

We answer the cries you don’t hear campaign is our response to the isolation crisis among parents in the UK today. We hope that raising awareness of our vital work with parents and families, it will help us meet the rising demand we face – to help us build a compassionate community around families and encourage others to support our work either as volunteers, donors or campaigners.

Our three poignant films highlight critical issues such as maternal mental health, the impact of the cost of living on families, and the grief faced by parents with young children.

Home-Start UK

Home-Start is a family support charity, helping families with young children deal with whatever life throws at them.

We help families affected by isolation, bereavement, illness, mental health issues, financial insecurity and more.

Our local community network of trained volunteers and expert support help families with young children through their challenging times. That’s because the earliest years make the biggest impact: we make sure those years count so that no child’s future is limited.
