Day One Trauma
Sunburn

Film & Campaign Description

Sunburn is a powerful 7-minute short film exploring the emotional heatwave that follows a moment of loss, trauma, or sudden change. Told through striking visuals and a minimalist narrative, the film follows a character who becomes overwhelmed by an unseen force that burns from within, symbolising how internal pain can manifest in the physical world.

With a bold, cinematic style and an intense performance-driven approach, Sunburn captures the universal experience of being pushed to the edge and the quiet resilience required to survive it. Trauma is like a sunburn that needs attention in order to heal.

Day One Trauma

Surviving is just the start.

Most do not get the full support they need throughout the daunting process of recovery. We’re there for people for as long as it takes, because we believe that no one should be left to rebuild their life on their own.

We offer practical and emotional support to anyone who has experienced major trauma in the UK through our national support offer. We also provide bedside support in several Major Trauma Centres through our caseworkers, and in other major trauma hospitals through our outreach workers. Our peer support volunteers with lived experience of major trauma provide support throughout the UK.
