We created this film as part of our campaign for a new environmental rights law in the UK. People all over the UK are living in unhealthy environments, and we wanted to bring attention to the scale of water pollution impacting our rivers and seas. Our ambition was to generate emotions of shock and amusement, tap into pride for the Great British seaside, and galvanise people to show their support for the new law. The spoof news report format really appealed to Nish Kumar, who was keen to partner with us on an issue he cares about.
Friends of the Earth is the UK's largest grassroots environmental community, dedicated to protecting people and the planet. We are campaigners, lawyers, policy experts, 230 local action groups and hundreds of thousands of passionate supporters working together for a greener, fairer future. We've been winning impactful campaigns for over 50 years, including getting the world's first ever Climate Change Act into UK law and ensuring every household in the country has a doorstep recycling service.
