Sense
Sense Awards 2025 - Person of the year

Film & Campaign Description

Our annual Sense Awards celebrate the achievements of disabled people with complex needs and the people who support them. Our fantastic Person of the Year in 2025 is Paul.

Paul is a talented deaf artist, with a learning disability. He’s lived within his own flat at Sense in Birmingham since the residential service was founded 30 years ago, and his room is filled with his fantastic artworks. He’s been a huge part of the community where he lives since he moved in and is always up for socialising with his friends and helping people out. This year, Paul made a vital contribution to Sense’s wider work by illustrating a children’s book, Ben and Betty Visit the Circus. Published by Sense to celebrate World Book Day in March, the book is a ‘sensory story’ which the charity uses to provide stimulation and lots of fun for disabled children.

We reached hundreds of thousands of people with our Sense Awards content, which was led by the lived experience of our Award winners. Through these videos we celebrated representation and visibility, and challenged stereotypes.
