The Robin Cancer Trust
My Big Ballsy Challenge: Running For My Brother

The Robin Cancer Trust

My name is Toby and I founded The Robin Cancer Trust in 2012 after I lost my brother, Robin, to late-stage testicular cancer when he was just 24 - my hope ever since has always been to prevent another family from going through what mine did. Too many men ignore symptoms because they’re embarrassed to talk about their health, so I'm here to tackle the taboo with humour, heart, and an eye catching costume!

Testicular Cancer is the most common cancer in young men - affecting 2,400 people every year - but it’s 95% curable if caught early.

This year I've taken on a BIG BALLSY CHALLENGE - running 500km to raise awareness, break the stigma, and start important health conversations with young men. In June, I became the first-person ever to run across the country dressed as a giant ballbag; taking on 150km ultramarathon over 3 days along Hadrian's Wall and beyond! This short film shows the breadth and depth of my challenge - pushing my mind and body further that I ever thought possible - the miles, the hours, the sweat, the pain, the tears - and the joys of every person reached and every conversation started.

This challenge is for every family who never got the chance to say goodbye properly; it’s for every young man who didn't spot their symptoms soon enough - it’s for Rob - because no-one should have to say goodbye to their brother at just 24.

The Robin Cancer Trust was founded following the death of Robin Freeman, aged just 24. The charity works tirelessly across the UK to raise awareness, educate young people, and support those affected by testicular, ovarian, and germ cell cancers through the hardest times of their lives.

Our vision is to stop young people dying of germ cell cancer. Our mission is to reach every young person in the UK with our life-saving cancer campaigns. Our hope is that no other family has to go through what we did.
