People Place and Participation (PPP Ltd.)
Meet the OX4 Food Crew

Film & Campaign Description

The OX4 Food Crew is a partnership of small grassroots organisations in Oxford’s OX4 postcode who are collectively responding to the growing crisis of food insecurity in their neighbourhoods. Through this video, the four for-good food organisations featured encourage Oxford colleges and local businesses and institutions to use them for their catering. By choosing to invest some of their catering budgets in local social enterprises, these big organisations will be protecting the environment and supporting local communities with their purchasing power. Great food, affordable prices, incredible impact. We think it's a no brainer! Find out more about the amazing OX4 Food Crew in this video.

OX4 Food Crew organisations featured in the video:

  • Waste2Taste: creating delicious vegan and vegetarian food using only surplus ingredients, with profits feeding and supporting the local community
  • Flo's: a community-owned hub and cafe helping local people, reducing inequalities and supporting the environment
  • OCA Kitchen: providing international food, supporting emerging chefs, and using profits to feed people in need in the community
  • No Vice Ice: supporting people living with long term invisible health conditions through the production of ice lollies made from locally sourced surplus food

This video was funded through Good Food Oxfordshire, a network of organisations working towards a fairer, healthier and more sustainable food system for Oxfordshire, and created by Stone Barrell, a small Oxford-based communications agency.

People Place and Participation (PPP Ltd.)

Also known as Flo's - the Place in the Park, PPP exists to reduce inequalities in Oxford and support the environment. Our three key themes are:

  • Food and diversity led social enterprise
  • Access to nature and sustainability
  • Children and early years

As well as incubating and supporting the development of the OX4 Food Crew (featured in the video), who are working to tackle food poverty and food insecurity in the OX4 area of Oxford, we also:

  • Run a nursery with a focus on nature-based learning
  • Provide a community cafe and a plastic-free refill shop
  • Incubate a new project to address inequality in access, experience and outcomes in maternity services, supporting women from ethically diverse backgrounds to overcome barriers and receive support during the perinatal period and beyond
  • Provide support for families through drop-in classes and events
  • Provide space for community midwives
  • And more!
