Love to Balance is just one of 30+ community projects that are run at the Saracens Foundation. In this short documentary you'll meet Joe and Breda, two residents who have been impacted by the Love to Balance seated exercise classes. Hear from the Care Home Manager, Hanna and the Lifestyle Coordinator, Carly on how these classes have not only benefited the residents but the wider staff as well.
Love to Balance is a movement project designed for individuals over 65 in care homes. Its primary focus is on preventing falls, reducing inactivity, combating social isolation, and slowing the progression of long-term illnesses like dementia, all of which help residents lead more independent and fulfilling lives.
87% of residents spend their time in sedentary
60% of residents do not receive any visitors
Love to Balance addresses these challenges by offering a weekly exercise class that encourages residents to become more active and socialise with one another. In 2023/24, the Love to Balance project made a significant impact on 275 participants across 9 care homes. One of our care homes reported 16 falls in March 2023, and with the support of Love to Balance, and the number dropped to just 6 falls in March 2024.
