Our animation, Finding a Home with Shared Lives, tells the story of what it’s like for a young person with additional needs — including learning disabilities, autism, mental ill health, or physical disabilities — to turn 18 and leave foster care.
We worked closely with people we support to capture their real experiences and feelings about stepping into the world on their own. In a truly co-produced approach, one of the people we support, Clare, in Shared Lives lent their voice to bring Ellie, the main character, to life.
This film highlights how Shared Lives provides person-centred support in a home environment, offering continuity, safety, and independence at a critical time in someone’s life.
We’re proud of this collaborative storytelling and the voices it amplifies — and we’d love your support. Vote for our film!
