At Dulas, our commitment to sustainability goes beyond engineering; it is about ensuring our technology creates a tangible, ethical impact where it is needed most. We recently donated a VC150SDD Solar Direct Drive refrigerator to the Zion Clinic in rural Uganda—a region where, until now, the nearest vaccination center required a grueling 12km mountain trek. By providing reliable, solar-powered cold storage, we have helped Dr. Peter Wanzala and his team secure local vaccine access for over 3,200 children, overcoming extreme logistical challenges that saw the community carry the unit by hand for the final 1.5km of the journey.
This project sits at the very heart of the Dulas mission to champion global equity and last-mile innovation. By using our expertise in renewable energy to provide health security in off-grid environments, we are ensuring that geography is never a barrier to life-saving healthcare. As a global leader in cold chain technology, we believe our responsibility is to ensure no community is left behind, and this donation reflects our ongoing dedication to building a healthier, more sustainable world for everyone.
Since 1982, Dulas has been a global pioneer in renewable energy, leading the way in solar, hydro, and wind power for over 40 years. Founded at the Centre for Alternative Technology, our heritage is rooted in life-saving innovation, including the development of the world’s first mass-produced solar vaccine refrigerators and blood banks. Today, we operate as an independent, employee-owned cooperative where the wellbeing of people and the planet remains our paramount focus. Guided by our mission of "Clean energy. Healthy lives," we provide trusted technical services and products that empower communities and protect the environment worldwide.
Our commitment to ethical progress is central to everything we do. As a member of the UN Global Compact and a participant in the UN Race to Zero campaign, we align our operations with global sustainability standards and a clear Net Zero Action Plan. By combining four decades of engineering excellence with a cooperative structure that offers equal opportunity to every member, Dulas continues to turn environmental ambition into practical action, delivering the sustainable infrastructure needed for a healthier future.
We align with the following UN Sustainable Development Goals:
