Since 1997, Slough Refugee Support (SRS) is committed to impartially assisting refugees and asylum seekers in Slough and in the surrounding areas by providing relief of poverty, the preservation/protection of physical and mental health, the advancement of education as well helping to attain their rights to settle in the UK with dignity so they may prosper within their new community. SRS provides a variety of projects including; English classes, IT classes, sewing classes, creche services, football club, gardening allotment, health casework support, outreach casework support as well as support with immigration/asylum claims and appeals to over 500 clients (including client families) each year. These projects are designed to deliver outcomes based on the following:
1.To welcome and assist clients to integrate with the local and wider community in the UK
2.To assist clients to remain safe, keep physically/mentally healthy to avoid destitution
3.To support clients to attain their rights/entitlement and be able to access life sustaining services provided by the government and other relevant agencies
4.To help clients develop independent, self-sustaining transferable skills in order to gain employment opportunities
5.To celebrate and strengthen the culture and diversity which clients can contribute to their local and national British communities
