In 2024 Brooke marked its 90th Anniversary. 'Brooke at 90’, voiced by supporter and actor Annette Badland, features archive and present-day footage to show Brooke’s journey over the years. It was created to show that we have been driven by compassion for animals ever since Brooke was founded in 1934. The passion of Dorothy Brooke led to a far-reaching legacy, inspiring a network of people working together to improve the lives of working horses, donkeys and mules worldwide.
We also wanted to recognise that we wouldn’t be anywhere without our supporters. Brooke has some of the most dedicated supporters any charity could hope for, who have helped us expand into different countries and reach millions of animals through emergency treatment, prevention, training and animal welfare focused policy changes.
Brooke is an international charity that protects and improves the lives of horses, donkeys and mules which give people in the developing world the opportunity to work their way out of poverty. We reach over 1.5 million working horses, donkeys and mules across Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Middle East. Our staff include vets, animal welfare experts, and advocacy and development specialists.
