‘Beyond the Shadows’ is a powerful short film created by Unseen UK in partnership with DUNA Films and in collaboration with 11 leading construction companies to expose modern slavery within the UK construction industry. It follows Alex, a worker trapped in exploitation, to reveal how labour abuse thrives unnoticed on worksites.
Crafted with authenticity and inspired by real survivor stories collected from Unseen’s Modern Slavery Helpline, the film empowers construction professionals to recognise and report exploitation through a relatable and visually impactful narrative.
Designed for use in training programs and site inductions, it provokes thought and challenges audiences to take responsibility for addressing this urgent issue. By highlighting key signs of worker abuse and emphasising collective responsibility, the film transforms passive awareness into active engagement. Closing with a clear call to action the film equips viewers with the knowledge and motivation to create a safer, more ethical industry for all.
