Advice Saves Campaign 2025

Film & Campaign Description

Advice Services - The backbone of our communities

Across the UK — from Aberdeen to Bristol — this film reveals how the advice sector is holding communities together amid a deepening cost of living crisis, cuts to public services, and rising inequality.

In this video, we explore the realities of life for deaf and disabled people, women experiencing violence and families facing homelessness, from the advisers who support and guide them.

This documentary is both a tribute and a call to action: urging government and policymakers to invest in the recruitment, training, and retention of advisers, to protect the services that build resilience, equality, and social justice at community level.

Featuring AdviceUK members; Housing Matters, CFINE, IKWRO, Disability Law Service and Latin American House, the film highlights how advice work is not just compassionate — it’s cost-effective policy in action, helping people to help themselves and strengthening the social fabric we all depend on.

AdviceUK

AdviceUK is a small charity that makes a big impact. Our purpose is to improve the lives of people in need of advice. We do this by supporting our members - advice giving organisations - so it is easier for them to help their clients, and by directly influencing policy-makers, decision-makers and funders.

Annually, our work supports our members to advise over 1.7m people on a diverse range of issues including debt, housing, benefits and immigration problems and provide support for specific communities including students, disabled people and people experiencing domestic violence.
