Like so many parents of children with a learning disability, they are asking what the future holds for their twelve-year old son, Rufus. Will he be independent? Will he make friends of his own? Does anyone else really care about him?
In L’Arche, they have discovered a vision for a full and vibrant life, surrounded by friendship and real care.
We are people with and without learning disability, on a mission to build a world where everyone belongs. Being a movement of life-sharing Communities radically changes L'Arche's approach to support for learning disabilities.
We help each other live full and empowered lives, enriched with belonging, kindness and creativity, with fun and joy. We seek every opportunity to celebrate the gifts and contributions of people with learning disabilities. We believe that to be human is to be spiritual, and that sharing life in L'Arche includes sharing this spirituality, whoever we are and wherever we come from. And we look to grow by building mutual relationships across our diversity and differences, and to work together for a more human society.
