Helen & Douglas House

At Helen & Douglas House Children’s Hospice our remarkable nurses have the time, support and expertise to do what matters most – helping children with life-shortening conditions create treasured memories and make the most of every day.

In this film our nurses tell you in their own words why it is a great place to work and what a privilege it is to be a nurse at the hospice, which was used for our nurse recruitment advertising campaign in September 2022. As a result of this film all our nursing vacancies were filled allowing us to offer more care to more families. This film was made by David O'Dwyer from dodmedia.co.uk.

Helen & Douglas House improves the lives of local terminally ill children and their families living in Oxfordshire and the surrounding counties. We are the world’s first children’s hospice which opened 40 years ago this year. There are now 54 children's hospices around the UK and many more around the world, all modelled on the care provided at Helen House when it opened in 1982. We provide individualised respite and end-of-life care at our hospice in Oxford as well as end of life care at home and in hospital. None of this would be possible without the amazing care provided by the nurses at Helen & Douglas House.
